Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music

Bobby Sanabria, seven-time Grammy nominated drummer and percussionist, will be the featured artist at the upcoming Lamar University Percussion and Jazz Weekend, scheduled for Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, at the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at Lamar University.

The festival will feature workshops, symposiums and master classes, and will conclude with the gala concert featuring Sanabria on Saturday at 6 p.m., in the University Theatre. The Cardinal Jazz Orchestra and percussion ensembles will perform with Sanabria.

Lamar University’s Cardinal Jazz Singers will perform Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rothwell Recital Hall on the campus of Lamar University. The free concert will feature a variety of contemporary jazz selections from aartists such as Bobby McFerrin and Kerry Marsh, and new music composed by faculty member Rebecca Windham, all performed a cappella or with a live rhythm section.

The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music presents a Guest Artist Piano Recital at the Rothwell Recital Hall on Friday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. The guest pianist is Richard Fountain, associate professor of collaborative piano at Wayland Baptist University and teacher of applied piano and accompanying.
