UPDATE, Nov. 30, 8 p.m.: Heaven Cox has been found. The Orange County Sheriff's Office reports she was in Louisiana at the home of a relative of an acquaintance. Detectives are still investigating the incident.

An Orange County mother is searching for her runaway daughter, 15-year-old Heaven Ray Cox of Mauriceville, reports the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

In 1981, the Texas Legislature designated Mauriceville as the “Crawfish Capital of Texas,” and 37 years later, the Mauriceville Crawfish Festival has become the “go-to” festival for all things crawfish.

One of the oldest running festivals in the state, the 37th annual festival will begin Friday, April 21, and go through Sunday, April 23. Sitting on 15 acres, the festival also celebrates music, art and culture, highlighting the unique heritage of Mauriceville and the surrounding areas.

UPDATE Nov. 16, second update: Deputies have identified a suspect arrested related to the Nov. 15 robbery of Mauriceville Family Pharmacy on Highway 12, Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) Criminal Investigator Janois Strause Grizzaffi reported in a news release.

Two teachers trying to break up a fight between two 10-year-olds at Mauriceville Elementary School in Orange were assaulted by one of the students involved in the altercation, reports the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

Narcotics investigators arrested a young Buna woman Feb. 22 after allegedly discovering more than 40 grams of methamphetamine in her possession.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, the office has had reports of an older, heavyset, white male with a white beard who is driving a white van stopping children to tell them he has a sick puppy in the back of the van. The 2006 white van has a white rack on top with Ohio license plates. He has most recently been in the downtown Orange area on John Street and possibly the Mauriceville area.

For the second time in the span of a week, a citizen has assisted officers in the capture of suspects fleeing from the scene of a crime in Orange County.

UPDATE: Joshua Jackson informed authorities he is fine and living in Vidor. His mother, who reported him missing, has been made aware, and he is no longer considered a missing person.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in the search of a local teen reported missing since January 16.

A burst water line at Mauriceville schools of Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD was repaired but resulted in a boil water notice and left the campuses to seek other means of providing students with water until lab tests are complete.
