Southeast Texas businesses, hunters, and individuals are invited to participate in “Break a Clay for MDA”, a sporting-clay event. Five-person teams are $600. The event is at the 1-in-100 Gun Club, 1228 FM 421 Road in Lumberton Saturday, Aug. 6. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and flight choices are 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

More than 100 members of the Port Arthur Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 397 raised $13,654 during the annual Fill the Boot campaign from April to May to help save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease in the Port Arthur area. Muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other related life-threatening diseases take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.
