Former city of Port Arthur Water Meter Services Department Supervisor, 57-year-old Robert Leblanc, 57, was indicted in Jefferson County Feb. 3 on five counts of theft by a public servant.

Leblanc was arrested Jan. 5 amid accusations of metal theft from the city he once served. At the time of his arrest, Leblanc worked as a football referee for the Houston Chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials.

A Department of Public Safety trooper tracked down and arrested two would-be metal thieves, who were attempting to steal from an oilfield site in Jasper County, in Orange County, reports the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Beaumont Police believe they have found the men responsible for a string of more than 70 Beaumont metal thefts.

A joint operation conducted by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Vidor Police Department and the Texas Department of Pubic Safety into metal thefts in the area led to the arrest of six people on miscellaneous, unrelated warrants and resulted in the solving of one felony theft case, OCSO reports.
