Jasper cash and drugs

The Jasper Police Department SWAT Team and Narcotics Division officers found a large stash of cash and marijuana as well as other drug paraphernalia while executing a search warrant a Jasper residence May 11, reports Lt. G.W. Foster.

According to Foster, officers executed the search warrant as part of an onging narcotics investigation. They went to the house in the 900 block of College Street in Jasper in the early morning hours and found 35-year-old Jimmie McBride inside the home, which Foster said is "steps away from the Jasper Middle School property."

On Sunday, January 3, 2016, at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at Popeye’s Chicken, located at 6432 Phelan Blvd in Beaumont. According to Beaumont police officer Carol Riley, officers were advised via dispatch that a suspect had a gun to the head of an employee and some of the employees fled the store on foot through the back door.

Officers arrived in the area and began searching for the suspects.

According to the Facebook page for the Kountze Police Department, counterfeit money is being circulated throughout the community, and police need assistance finding the perpetrators. Clerks of every local business are encouraged to check all money received carefully. If counterfeit bills are acquired, KPD suggests keeping the money and calling local authorities, as identifying the person(s) handling the fake currency is essential.
