Two pools of mosquitoes on Beaumont's north end tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The first pool was collected on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Carnegie Avenue and Tyler Street. A second pool was collected at Cable Avenue near I-10, reports Kevin Sexton, director of Jefferson County Mosquito Control District. They have been confirmed positive by the Texas Department of Health in Austin.

"This is not unexpected with the hot and dry weather we had for the last month. Because of the recent heavy rains throughout the area it is probably less of a threat now," Sexton said.
