Time capsule contents

The Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur took visitors on a journey back in time on July 2. Museum staff displayed items from a time capsule buried 20 years ago in July 1994 and other rare items the museum has collected over the last 50 years.


The Museum of the Gulf Coast is holding an exciting event Wednesday, July 2, at which attendees will be taken on a journey back in time, according to a press release from the Lamar State College-Port Arthur.

The press release from Lamar State College-Port Arthur reads, "Twenty years ago, television viewers spent a surreal summer’s evening watching a white Bronco leisurely transport a fallen O.J. Simpson on a tour of the L.A. freeways while across the pond, the “Chunnel” connected England and France.

McFaddin-Ward House

Four area museums are participating in Smithsonian Magazine’s program Museum Day Live! The W.H Stark House and the Stark Museum of Art in Orange, the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur, and the McFaddin-Ward House in Beaumont are offering free admission for two on Saturday, Sept. 29, to anyone with a complimentary ticket from Smithsonian Magazine’s website.
