Narcotics detectives with the Orange Police Department arrested a 63-year-old man after finding heroin and cocaine while executing a search warrant at his Barkins Avenure residence Jan. 11, reports Capt. Robert Enmon.

According to Enmon, the detectives made forced entry into the home in the 1300 block of Barkins at about 6 a.m. and found Knogs Wills. During the search of the residence, detectives reportedly discovered approximately 6.4 ounces of heroin and 5.7 ounces of cocaine.

Update: Sheriff Hawthorne reports at 5:27 p.m., both suspects are in custody as a result of the manhunt which began today at 2:00 p.m.

A Jasper resident is behind bars on drug and weapons charges after detectives investigating reports of narcotics distribution searched his house and discovered several illegal drugs, money and at least one firearm in the convicted felon’s possession, reports Lt. G.W. Foster of the Jasper Police Department.

The Vidor Police Department (VPD) is adding an officer to its ranks, and plans to sniff out a name soon for the new K-9 officer, Chief Rod Carroll reports. 

According to a news release, the newest addition to the VPD team is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois. The K-9 unit is being trained for narcotics, tracking and handler protection, states the department, and is expected to start patrolling with Officer Ethan Mansfield in February 2018. 

"The K-9 is another tool that is being utilized to better protect our community," Carroll stated.

Two Jasper men were arrested on drug charges early Nov. 21 after the Jasper Police Department SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant on a residence in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street, reports Lt. G.W. Foster of the Criminal Investigations Division.

According to Jasper PD, the search warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Jasper PD Narcotics Division and yielded drug paraphernalia, items used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics, and cocaine.

Sept. 27 at 7:20 p.m., Jefferson County Narcotics Officers served a narcotics search warrant at in the 300 block of South 4th Street in Nederland, a house has been a continued nuisance to the community, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

Local law enforcers executing a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street in Beaumont reportedly found meth, marijuana and a cache of weapons - weapons that officers believe could be related to recent gun violence in the area.

Heather Pina of Beaumont was found to be in possession of 28 pills of Dilaudid.

On June 6 at approximately 7:30 p.m. while the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force was conducting surveillance in Beaumont, one of the detectives observed suspicious activity that was not related to the surveillance.

While following up on complaints from neighbors, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Officers executing a search warrant at the Hillcrest Apartment in Nederland discovered large amounts of hydrocodone and synthetic marijuana, along with more than $13,000 in currency and multiple weapons, reports Captain Crystal Holems.
