The National Weather Service is calling for a Flash Flood Watch for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana until 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21. 

According to information from the weather service, at noon on Thursday radar had indicated up to three inches of rain had already fallen along Pine Island Bayou in Northwest Jefferson and Southwest Hardin counties with the activity moving slowly east across Beaumont. An additional one to three inches of rain is expected.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles issued an excessive heat warning for Southeast Texas, including Jefferson and Orange counties, on Monday, Aug. 10, as temperatures soared into the triple digits. That afternoon, the NWS reports, the heat index reached 108 degrees.

Beaumont was in for some heavy wind and rain Monday, April 14.

The sudden change in weather came as The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch and a wind advisory for Jefferson County until 9 p.m.

Reporters on the ground covering TEA's takeover of BISD experienced sideways rain and rapidly dropping temperatures about 1 p.m. Monday.
