Ken and Kathleen (Cole) Lewis married Dec. 28, 1980, and shared the next 35 years together with their large, blended family.

Knight de Leon was born December 22, 1935 in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of Christine Collins and Harry Knight. She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1955 and attended Lamar College of Technology (later advanced to Lamar University), receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1967.
