A one-vehicle crash on FM 1006 in Orange County claimed the life of a Bridge City man March 26, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reported in a news release. 

According to Trooper Davis, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. in front of the DuPont Plant, just one mile south of Orange. A 2000 Toyota passenger car was southbound on FM 1006 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest off-road.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office reports it is currently investigating the death of a resident there who died after being struck with a beer bottle during an altercation.

Eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 near the Texas-Louisiana that were closed due to flooding have reopened, Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Sarah Dupre announced in a news release March 18.

State troopers and other law enforcement officers caught up with and arrested a suspect who fled during a traffic stop in Orange on March 17, reports Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper David Henry.

According to Henry, DPS troopers attempted to stop a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant on S.H. 87 north of Orange at approximately 6:45 a.m., but the driver of the vehicle failed to halt. He continued to evade officers, traveling southbound on S.H. 87 until they spiked the vehicle’s tires.

Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) investigators are still trying to sort out the details of a shooting that occurred Thursday, March 10, and say an arrest could be forthcoming. 

According to a news release from OCSO, deputies responded to 911 call in reference to a shooting at a trailer park in the 12000 block of Highway 62 North at 4:51 p.m. The caller told dispatch that a male subject had been shot and another man was still in the area with a shotgun.

The City of Pinehurst Police, Fire, Water and Street Departments are going door to door making contact with businesses and residents that they expect to be affected by rising flood waters, Police Chief Fred R. Hanauer III said in a news release Monday morning, March 14.
