Update, Feb. 27:

The inmate who was rushed to the hospital after reportedly being found hanging in her cell Feb. 24 has died, reports the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

According to an update from Criminal Investigator and Public Information Officer Janois Grizzaffi, Rosa Bonilla, 35, was pronounced deceased at Christus St. Elizabeth’s hospital on Sunday, February 26, at approximately 12:29 p.m. Bonilla had been transported to the hospital Friday night after she was discovered.

Jefferson County Fugitive Recovery deputies arrested Johnny Ray Martin, 44, at his residence at Feb. 13.

A Jefferson County warrant was issued for engaging in organized criminal activity with a bond of $100,000 after Beaumont Police filed charges against Martin on Feb. 10, BPD Officer Carol Riley said in a release.

Southeast Texans should be on the alert for missing mail. 

Mail theft associated with one or more counterfeit check-cashing rings is on the rise in the area, according to officers from three local law enforcement entities. The thieves are apparently rifling through people’s mail, stealing checks, banking information and, ultimately, identities.

Police in Vidor have made multiple arrests for forgery recently. William Grubbs, 45, of Orange was arrested Feb.

Deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 36-year-old Kevin S. Edwards of Orange Feb. 5 and charged him with attempted first-degree murder following a shooting that severely injured a Louisiana man who was still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) recovering from surgery Feb. 6, reports the sheriff's office.

It's Trash-Off time once again! The 22nd annual Community Trash-Off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City of Orange Boat Ramp, located on Simmons Drive in Orange, Texas. Detectives from the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) and the Orange Police Department (OPD) seized hundreds of grams of methamphetamine and arrested two men Jan. 27 after stopping the men for traffic violations and during the execution of a search warrant at one suspect's residence in Vidor.
