One man was injured and another arrested as the result of a shooting in Orange County on Thursday, July 24, reports sheriff's deputies.

A 10-year-old girl died as the result of a boating accident on July 12, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office report.

According to a news release from OCSO, dispatch received an emergency call at about 6:20 p.m. on July 12 in reference to a boating accident that occurred on the Sabine River near the end of West Bluff Road in the north Orange area of Orange County.

One woman is dead and another in jail after a fatal shooting in Orange County on July 7, deputies report.

According to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, on Monday at about 10:06 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a shooting in the 6900 block of Swisher Street in Mauriceville.

Update: The well head has been capped and secured. company officials have notified law enforcement that the road blocks on Gulf Road and Scales Lane can be opened and residents can return to their homes. If residents returning to their homes have any questions or concerns, they should contact the company officials. Company officials have assured law enforcement that the well head that was leaking natural gas is now repaired and capped, and it is safe for residents to be back at their homes.

Workers attempting to cap a natural gas leak in Orange County have been working through the weekend, the sheriff's office reports.

the workers continue to make significant progress in repairing the leaking well, but still have not been able to render the area safe to allow any displaced residents on Gulf Road or Scales Lane to return home. The sheriff’s office will keep the road blocks in place until company officials verify that the area near the gas leak is safe.

Workers repairing the leaking well are making good progress. Work on the rig will continue during daylight hours only due to safety factors. The work may need to continue through the weekend until the well head is repaired.
