Several local groups gathered in the summer twilight outside Orange City Hall on Sunday, Aug. 13.

Shelby Smith, who kickstarted the Golden Triangle Indivisible group with the women’s march back in January, explained that the candlelight service commemorated “those who have died at the hands of racism” and also demanded justice for victims of hate after the events in Charlottesville, Virginia, where counterprotesters clashed with white nationalists and other right-wing groups Saturday, Aug. 12.

Police in Orange arrested an apparently irate, intoxicated man July 15 on an enhanced family violence charge and retaliation charges, reportedly following an altercation between the suspect and his girlfriend that ended with injuries, his arrest and a threat to come back in three days to beat her again.

Police in Orange are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Orange County at about 9:25 p.m. on June 12, reports Captain Robert Enmon. No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Orange native and All Saints graduate Cameron Hah is the valedictorian of a graduating class of over 500 students at Texas Connections Academy, a TEA accredited online school that is part of Houston ISD. Hah chose Texas Connections Academy to have the flexibility to pursue both her academic and dance goals. She spends a lot of time at iRule Dance Studio, attending many dance competitions.

Narcotics detectives with the Orange Police Department arrested a local man after discovering ecstasy, PCP and marijuana during the execution of a search warrant in the 300 block of Decatur on May 12, reports Sgt. Jason Laughlin.

According to Laughlin's report, 28-year-old Michael Anthony Buchanan of Orange was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail on second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance for the ecstasy, state jail felony possession of a controlled substance for the PCP and possession of marijuana.

Police investigating a possible stabbing arrested a bat-wielding suspect who allegedly beat a man and killed a dog during a violent episode at an apartment complex in Orange, reports the Orange Police Department.
