William Webb, 21 of Orange, was arrested by Orange Co. Sheriff’s deputies and charged with Aggravated Robbery.  He was charged after shooting out the front door of the Dollar General store located at FM 1442, near I-10, on the night of Oct. 11.  He’d entered the building while employees hid, but left without taking anything.  Webb was found after a search later that evening.

Oct. 11, a man shot through the door of the Dollar General on FM 1442 near I-10, as employees barricaded themselves in another room of the store. The man entered the store but fled shortly thereafter. Video showed the man wearing a mask and a camo shirt, a pistol in one hand and some sort of blunt object in his other hand.

 All westbound traffic lanes of I-10 in Orange County have reopened following an early morning crash at mile marker 877 in Orange.

A representative from Payless confirmed that the shoe store chain will be reopening their location on MacArthur Street in Orange.  

The store has been abandoned since August 2017 due to flooding from Harvey.

Payless’ real estate department could not yet provide a date for the reopening, but persons interested in applying for employment are urged to visit https://stores-payless.icims.com/jobs.

A resurfacing project in Orange that began in July will finally be completed, allegedly, by January. Once again rain is being blamed for the hold up.

According to Sarah Dupre with Texas Department of Transportation, the project runs from the Orange/Newton County line to I-10 and its ultimate goal is to repave the entire stretch.  Paving is expected to be finished by Thanksgiving with the overall project completed in January.

Work started July 9 and is estimated to cost $3.2 million.

On Sept. 26, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a head-on collision on FM 1013 in Tyler County.  The crash occurred five miles East of Spurger.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling eastbound on FM 1013.  A 2015 Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on FM 1013.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Pontiac crossed the center dividing line and collided head-on with the Ford Mustang.

After failing to verify information required for his sex offender registry and violating other terms of his probation, convicted counterfeiter and child molester Christopher Shaun Drucker, 37, of Orange, was arrested Sept. 12 following investigations by The Examiner, the Orange Police Department, the Pinehurst Police Department and the Orange County Probation Office.

No one officially knew where Christopher Drucker, a registered sex offender and convicted felon, was living until an investigation by The Examiner ensued. He is now residing safely behind bars at the Orange County Jail, and could face years in prison for violating his probation.

Neighbors living on Amaryllis Avenue in Orange say, though they received notification that registered sex offender and convicted counterfeiter Christopher Shaun Drucker is living on their street, he isn’t and has not been there for months.

Police in Orange are searching for suspects who shot and killed the victims’ dog during a robbery Sept. 24, reports Capt. Charlie Stephenson of the Orange Police Department (OPD).

The Little Caesar's Pizza place in Orange called police Sept. 23 after receiving counterfeit currency as payment for a purchase, reports Officer David Vaughn. 

According to a police report written by Vaughn, the officer responded to 2421 16th St. in Orange in reference to the discovery of the fake money. The manager told the officer that a customer had come in and paid with a counterfeit $50 bill. The customer service representative took the bill and provided change to the customer, who then left with food and some of the store's real cash.
