Crews were working April 23 to clean up an oil spill following a crane accident that injured one person, reports the Port Arthur Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a report of a crane that had turned over on S. First Avenue in Sabine Pass. On arrival, crews found a subject complaining of back pain on a boat. They removed him from the boat and transported him to a hospital for medical treatment of his injuries, which were not life-threatening according to PAFD.

At the request of the state of Florida and through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), the state of Texas approved sending resources for disaster relief in preparation for Hurricane Matthew. These resources include Texas A&M Forest Service All-Hazards Incident Management Teams (AHIMT), which currently consist of 30 personnel and may be augmented as the situation develops.

A team from the Port Arthur Fire Department rescued a dock worker on Thursday, Sept. 19, after the man fell 25-30 feet into a ship at Oxbow Docks on Coke Dock Road in Port Arthur.
