Robert Lewis, 62, of Beaumont, was indicted in Jefferson County for murder Sept. 20. Lewis was originally arrested for the crime on Aug. 11 after police responded to a report of a disturbance on Pine Street and found the suspect at the location with a man who had apparently been strangled.

On August 11, at 6:58 p.m. Robert Lewis, 62, of Beaumont, was arrested for the murder of George Erwin, a 63 year old Beaumont man, Officer Carol Riley said in a release.

On Friday, August 11, at 7:30 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to an apartment in the 2800 block of Pine Street in reference to a disturbance, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 6:20 p.m., Beaumont police responded to Collier’s Ferry Park at 5360 Pine St. in reference to body being located. Overnight, detectives were able to identify the victim as Catherine Jane Dungan, a 54-year-old Beaumont woman. At this time, BPD has been unable to locate next of kin. Detectives are following several leads; however, anyone who was in the area of Collier’s Ferry Park between the hours of 5-6 p.m. Saturday is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 832-1234.

On Sunday, April 16, at 3:21 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to Colliers Ferry Park on Pine Street in reference to a 7 year old child reportedly falling into the river and possibly drowning, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

The Beaumont Fire and Rescue Water Response Team responded to the scene as well.

After about two hours of searching, a diver was able to locate the victim's body in the water, near the area that witnesses had last seen him.

On Saturday, April 1, at 11:55 p.m., a Beaumont patrol officer was in the area of Eastex Freeway and Lucas Drive when he located a stolen Toyota Tacoma, Officer Carol Riley reported.

Traffic flow will be affected by several road closures in Vidor, Beaumont and Winnie this week, TxDOT PIO Sarah Dupre said in a release. The repairs are scheduled for the following days, weather permitting.

While investigating a call regarding a disturbance on Pine Street in Orange, officers discovered the body of a young man who had apparently been shot in the chest, reports Capt. Robert Enmon of the Orange Police Department (OPD).

Collier Ferry Park and Boat Ramp, located at 5390 Pine Street in between Beaumont Country Club and Forest Lawn Memorial Park had been closed due to flooding caused by the overflowing Neches River. According to the National Weather Service the Neches River is nearing a flood record which occurred in October of 1994 and numerous homes in Northeast Beaumont and Rose City are flooded. River levels are near those reached during Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.
