Thursday, Oct. 19, at about 9:58 p.m., Pinehurst Police Officer J. Lockett was on patrol in the 3300 block of West Park Avenue in Pinehurst, the Pinehurst Police Department said in a release, when he observed a gray Jeep traveling westbound on Park Avenue. The driver failed to use a turn signal, he said. Officer Lockett attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated in an apparent attempt to elude him. Officer Lockett was advised by dispatch that the vehicle was reported stolen in Beaumont.
