A Pinehurst police officer shot and killed a pit bull dog after the animal reportedly charged him aggressively while the officer was responding to a call May 23, Pinehurst Police Department Chief Fred R. Hanauer reported.

Police in Pinehurst are cracking down on methamphetamine dealers in an ongoing effort to eradicate the dangerous drug from the city, Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer revealed in press releases. 

According to Hanauer, the department, along with Constable Pct. 2 David Cagle, have been investigating methamphetamine distribution in the area for some time.

The mandatory evacuation order for the City of Pinehurst due to flooding has been lifted effective Friday, March 18, at 9:00 a.m., Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer announced in a news release.

According to Hanauer, Adams Bayou has ceased rising, and no significant threats exist to homes or businesses at this time. All residents who evacuated can return home and businesses may resume normal operation. This order only applies to the City of Pinehurst and not surrounding jurisdictions under a similar order.

A joint operation between the Pinehurst Police Department and Orange County Pct. 2 Constable David Cagle resulted in the seizure of approximately 5.5 grams of methamphetamine March 3, reports Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer III.

According to Hanauer, the meth was seized in an undisclosed location. The investigation is ongoing and arrests are pending.

Hanauer III proudly receives a ceremonial check in the amount of $3000 from Georgette Pillitere, a grant administrator at the Texas Department of Transportation, for the department’s participation in the Click-it-or-Ticket and Impaired Driver campaigns earlier this year. According to the chief, the funds will be used to purchase police equipment to better serve the public and to further support those initiatives.
