Two Jasper men were arrested on drug charges early Nov. 21 after the Jasper Police Department SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant on a residence in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street, reports Lt. G.W. Foster of the Criminal Investigations Division.

According to Jasper PD, the search warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Jasper PD Narcotics Division and yielded drug paraphernalia, items used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics, and cocaine.

Ky Lynn Brown

Ky Lynn Brown, 55, of Kountze, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

Ky Brown was a lieutenant with the Beaumont Police Department. A32-year veteran of BPD serving on 3rd Watch Patrol, he was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer.

A Jasper police officer placed on administrative leave in August has been indicted on charges of sexual assault of a child for abuse alleged prior to employment with the department, reports Lt. G.W. Foster of the Jasper Police Department. Jasper Police Chief Gerald Hall has recommended the officer's termination from the department and is awaiting final approval from the city council.

Police arrested a Vidor man Aug. 14 after he reportedly struck a vehicle from behind, bolted from the scene of the accident and then assaulted a responding officer who followed a trail of car parts to find the fleeing suspect.

According to a report from the Vidor Police Department, a caller reported that while stopped at the intersection of Old Highway 90 East and the I-10 service road in his Ford F-150, a silver Nissan Versa struck his vehicle from behind and kept driving.

The Beaumont Police Department celebrated K-9 Joris's sixth birthday on Aug. 11, posting a picture of the police dog and his handler in a popular Facebook post that has garnered hundreds of "likes."

The Facebook post shows a photo of the pair with birthday wishes included, reading, "The Beaumont Police Department would like to wish K-9 Joris a Happy 6th Birthday!"

The Jefferson County Courthouse, along with other government buildings, was evacuated Aug. 7 for the second time in about two months due to erroneous bomb threats at the building, reports the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department graduated the 61st Texas game warden and state park police officer cadet class Aug. 1 at the Texas State Capitol. The class included 34 game wardens and seven state park police officers.

Following their seven month preparation at the TPWD Game Warden Training Center in Hamilton County, the newly-commissioned state peace officers were recognized during a special ceremony that included a keynote speaker, oath of office and commissioning by senior-level department staff and TPWD Executive Director Carter Smith.

Police were dispatched to 4200 block 32nd St. in Port Arthur on Saturday, July 30, in response to an unresponsive three month old infant.

Upon arrival, Port Arthur Police began administering life saving measures until PAFD and Acadian EMS arrived on scene and took over life saving efforts. The infant was transported to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas where a short time later the infant was pronounced deceased.

Two Beaumont men are behind bars following a bank robbery at the Dugood Federal Credit Union on July 27, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to a news release from Officer Haley Morrow, officers responded to the credit union at 7505 Eastex Freeway in Beaumont at 9:37 a.m. When officers arrived, they quickly obtained descriptions of the suspect and suspect vehicle reportedly involved in the bank robbery and disseminated the information to Beaumont patrol officers and detectives.

On Friday, July 21, at 2:21 p.m., Beaumont police received a call from the U.S. Marshal’s Office in reference to attempting to locate a suspect that was believed to be near Walden and I-10.

The suspect, identified as Ivory Carl Myles, a 28-year-old Nachitoches, Louisiana man, had an NCIC (National Crime Information Center) warrant for armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping out of Louisiana. Myles is also suspected of committing an aggravated sexual assault. U.S. Marshalls advised that Myles was considered armed and dangerous.
