Port Arthur Police Department

On the morning of Monday, May 4, Port Arthur Police Department responded to the 6700 block of West Port Arthur Rd. in reference to a major traffic accident involving four vehicles.  According to a press release, upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered one of the drivers was trapped inside the vehicle and the jaws-of-life was required for extraction. After being removed, the 49-year-old Port Arthur female was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital via Air Rescue for treatment of her injuries.

Sunday, March 1, at 1:45 a.m., the Port Arthur Police Department responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 5200 block of 12th Street.. Officers arrived and learned that there were occupants inside the residence but none were injured despite several rounds penetrating multiple walls of the residence. Occupants of the residence were all inside when the shooting began and were able to give a limited description of the suspect vehicle involved. The incident is currently being investigated.

On Jan. 7, at approximately 1:41 a.m. the Port Arthur Police Department received a call from the Port Arthur Lounge located at 8136 9th Ave. in reference to a robbery, The employee advised that the business was closed when a subject, who had been concealed in the business, held her by gunpoint and demand money. The subject was able to rob the business of an unknown amount of money and fled. The employee was not injured during the robbery. Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced in a July 17 press release by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office that Port Arthur resident James Arceneaux, 53, has been found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child by a Jefferson County jury.

A Port Arthur man is dead after what Port Arthur Police are calling a homicide.

Around 1:13 a.m. Friday morning, Feb. 14, the Port Arthur Police Department received a call of a "man down" in the 800 block of 9th Street. Upon arrival, officers found twenty-nine-year old Eric Darnel Noel, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Noel was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died.

Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu is conducting an inquest into the death and has ordered an autopsy.

Volunteers and officers from the Port Arthur Police Department came together at the Bob Bower Civic Center in Port Arthur on Friday, Dec. 20, to distribute toys and gifts to local families to help make their Christmas brighter. Blue Santa coordinators spent about $16,000 on gifts to assist close to 300 Port Arthur families during this holiday season.

A Port Arthur man was killed in a hit-and-run auto-pedestrian accident occurring in the 3200 block of 8th St. in Port Arthur Sunday, Dec. 22.

Jesse Ray Ford Jr., 31, was found dead by Port Arthur Police Department officers around 2 a.m. after receiving a call that the man was lying in the road. Port Arthur Fire Department and Acadian EMS responded to the scene as well and determined the man was dead.

A Nederland woman is dead after being struck by a pickup truck while walking in the 10,000 block of Memorial Blvd in Port Arthur Monday, Dec. 23.

According to a Port Arthur Police Department press release, around 9 p.m., Tiffany Nicole Wagner, 24, was walking north on the Memorial Boulevard northbound access road when a Chevrolet pickup truck also traveling north struck her.
