Police in Port Arthur are searching for suspects after two armed robbers got away with cash stolen from a local convenience store on Oct. 19, reports the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD).

According to Sgt. Heather Rowe, two armed male subjects confronted an employee who was closing the business, located in the 6700 block of West Port Arthur Road, and demanded money. The employee complied and contacted police after the robbery. There were no injuries reported.

Port Arthur Police found a 39-year-old male with a single gunshot wound in his abdomen on the night of Sunday, Oct. 21 after responding to a call about a shooting at 2000 block of 15th St. According toa press relase from Port Arthur Police, the 39-year-old victim was transported to southeast Texas Medical Center by ambulance, he was then life-flighted to St. Elizabeth Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A deceased woman was found near South Levee Rd. in Port Arthur, Wendesday, June 12.

According to a press release, at 4:37 p.m. Port Arthur Police Officers responded to the 2900 block of MLK to meet with a citizen who claimed they found a deceased person. Officers were taken to the area near South Levee Rd. and located a deceased woman. The area was secured and members of the Port Arthur Criminal Investigations Unit are processing the scene with assistance from the Jefferson County Crime Lab.

A Port Arthur police officer involved in a single-car accident near Valero in Port Arthur April 8 could face criminal charges pending an investigation, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis.

According to Marcelo Molfino, Assistant Chief Criminal Investigator for the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office, in the early morning hours of September 24, 2015, the Jefferson County D.A.’s office received a request from the Port Arthur Police Department for assistance in an investigation involving an off-duty Port Arthur Police officer who was home and confronted by an intruder attempting to gain entry into his residence.

On the morning of March 9, Port Arthur Police responded to the 4300 block of FM 365, in front of the Shire Apartment Complex in reference to an auto/pedestrian traffic accident. According to a press release, officers learned that Port Arthur resident, Linda Faye Middendorf, 54, had attempted to cross the roadway when she was stuck by a 1999 Chevrolet SUV. Middendorf was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

Port Arthur Police responded to a report of a subject being struck by a vehicle in the 8100 block  of S HWY 69 on Saturday, Feb. 14. At approximately 1:33 a.m. a small passenger car was traveling south on Hwy 69 when a white male attempted to cross the highway traveling west to east, according to reports. He was struck by the southbound vehicle and died of his injuries. The subjects in the passenger car were not injured.

Port Arthur Police officers were called to Cedar Ridge Apartment complex on 9th Ave. in reference to an Aggravated Robbery on Jan. 10.  According to a press release, at approximately 5:16 p.m., officers located the victim, who advised them that a subject approached her from behind and held a knife to her back while demanding money.

Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced Nov. 18 that the May term grand jury decided to take no action against a Port Arthur police officer who had been charged in a misdemeanor assault case.
