Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at 2:11 am, Beaumont police responded to Club Rumba at 3684 College St. in reference to a disturbance. Witnesses told officers that a fight broke out inside the club and continued in the parking lot. Multiple subjects retrieved firearms and began shooting at each other. Five people suffered gunshot wounds and one man, 27-year-old Ronald Livings, was killed. Beaumont police detectives interviewed many witnesses and through the course of their investigation, obtained a murder warrant for Damon Marques Pierce, a 21-year-old Port Arthur man. Police arrested a Port Arthur man for murder following a shooting at Avery Trace Apartments, reports the Port Arthur Police Department.

According to a news release, Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) detectives placed 20-year-old Walter Stevens Jones into custody today for the murder of 25-year-old Joseph Boudreaux, who was shot multiple times at the apartment complex March 16 at about 12:30 p.m. Boudreaux later died from his injuries.

A 35-year-old Port Arthur, Texas man has been sentenced to 80 years in federal prison for violations related to the murder of a Port Acres woman in the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney Alan R. Jackson announced Jan. 17.

On Jan. 12, detectives responded to a deadly conduct call in the 2600 block of 9th Street, according to the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD).

While PAPD was on scene, shots were fired, and a short time after the shots were heard, PAPD received a description of the suspect vehicle, PAPD spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said in a release.

Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced Jan. 11 that Vanessa Ann Davis, 56, was sentenced by Judge Raquel West to 18 years in Texas prison following trial in the 252nd District Court.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on July 5, 2015, Port Arthur Police, Fire, and EMS responded to reports of a major vehicle crash near the intersection of Gulfway Drive and 9th Avenue. A Buick Lesabre, driven by Vanessa Ann Davis, had flipped after hitting a brick flower bed and crashed into a light pole in a parking lot.

City of Port Arthur has reduced water pressure throughout the city and is asking residents to conserve water use due to "above average number of large water main breaks" in the city's water system, City of Port Arthur spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said in a release Jan. 4.
