Port Arthur

At about 10 p.m., Oct. 29, Port Arthur police officers were called to the area of Eighth Street and Stillwell Boulevard in reference to a "man down" in the roadway. Officers found a black male in the road with a gunshot wound ot his torso. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS for treatment of his injuries. 

The case is under investigation by PAPD's Criminal Investigations Division. Anyone with information is asked to contact PAPD at (409) 983-8600 or report the information anonymously through Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers (409) 833-TIPS (8477).

Over the weekend, the Port Arthur Police Department reported a number of violent crimes taking place involving firearms and resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

The first call reported by PAPD came in at about 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and advised that a subject had been shot at the Avery Trace Apartments. Arriving officers found a black male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The Port Arthur Police Department reported the agency was called to the scene of a fatal auto-pedestrian wreck in the early morning hours of Oct. 10.

At about 3:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Savannah Avenue in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, officers found a 40-year-old male cyclist had been struck and killed and the suspect had fled the scene.

Sept. 30, at about 4 p.m., officers with the Port Arthur Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Orange Avenue in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, they discovered a 33-year-old Beaumont woman had been assaulted and sustained serious bodily injury. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital where she was listed in stable condition.
