Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced Aug. 10 that Sidney Maxwell, 61, pled guilty to nine charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and one charge of indecency with a child by contact, a second-degree felony. Judge Raquel West accepted a plea agreement in the cases for 30 years confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in each aggravated sexual assault, and 20 years for the indecency with a child, to run concurrently.

Chase Martin Floyd, a 22-year-old Port Neches man, was taken into custody Friday, June 22, as a suspect in a robbery of the CVS Pharmacy on College St., which occurred two days prior.

Port Neches Police Department released a statement Monday, June 11 reminding citizens about the ordinance regarding the operation of golf carts. This reminder comes after PNPD received numerous complaints concerning golf carts on city streets.

Beaumont police arrested two suspects they believe burglarized American Bedroom on 11th Street Dec. 28, after finding one suspect inside the business and one in a vehicle in the parking lot while responding to the store's burglar alarm at about 2 a.m. that morning.

Police in Port Neches are investigating an apparent murder-suicide, reports Police Chief Paul Lemoine.

According to a news release from Lemoine, officers with the Port Neches Police Department responded to the Ridgewood Apartments at 699 Ridgewood Dr. in reference to a welfare concern at 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 22. A caller from Arkansas was trying to contact his father at that location for the past couple of days.

Mad Maude & The Hatters will perform at the Neches Brewing Company on Saturday, Feb. 11, beginning at 8:30 p.m. The band will also be selling The Sweetheart Sessions on 10-inch vinyl for $10 at the show. The music was recorded in 2015 at Sweetheart Studios in Austin.
