A resurfacing project in Orange that began in July will finally be completed, allegedly, by January. Once again rain is being blamed for the hold up.

According to Sarah Dupre with Texas Department of Transportation, the project runs from the Orange/Newton County line to I-10 and its ultimate goal is to repave the entire stretch.  Paving is expected to be finished by Thanksgiving with the overall project completed in January.

Work started July 9 and is estimated to cost $3.2 million.

Effective Thursday, Sept. 27, the resurfacing of Babe Zaharias Drive and the parking lot for Cattail Marsh will begin. The entire circle and entry into Cattail Marsh will be closed to all thru traffic and pedestrians. The stables can be accessed using private drive off Tyrrell Park Road. Downs Road into Tyrrell Park will be closed. These streets will remain closed until project is complete. The project is estimated to be completed on or before Monday, Oct.
