July 21, 2018 at approximately 7:18 a.m. the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force and the sheriff’s SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 7064 Hillebrandt Road in Beaumont.

The Narcotics Task Force had been conducting an investigation in reference to methamphetamine being sold from inside the residence. The Task Force also received information that stolen property was inside the residence.

Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 8:46 p.m., Beaumont police responded to the 400 block of Dowlen Road in reference to a major crash. Witnesses advised that the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 6500 block of Lexington Drive, traveled through the intersection across Dowlen Road into the Westmont parking lot, and impacted the concrete column in front of Talbots clothing store.

The driver was transported to a local hospital, but the front right passenger, 86-year-old Bernice Waddell, died at the scene from her injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 27, Old Calder Avenue at Phelan Boulevard to Pinchback Road will be partially closed to one-lane, two-way traffic. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic. This closure will facilitate Phase I of the resurfacing of Old Calder Avenue.  Phase I of this project will remain closed until further notice.

Phase II of this project will commence once Phase I is complete.  An updated Press Release will be provided upon commencement of Phase II. This project is expected to be completed by June 27, 2018.

The Beaumont City Council unanimously approved changes to plans for the ongoing Concord Road Project, but one local business owner expressed concern about the exclusion of sidewalks and a curb and gutter in the new design.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is managing the road-widening project, which has been fraught with difficulties since it started.

Effective Thursday, October 22, 2015, Forrest Street between Harrison Avenue and North Street will continue to be closed to traffic until Friday, October 23, 2015 at 5 p.m.  This closure will allow the Streets & Drainage Department to finish making repairs to Forrest Street.
