The Elmo Willard Library will be offering a winter break activity for kids age 6-12 called "Fun Time / STEM time" as part of the library's ongoing effort to educate children about science, technology, engineering and math.

These introductions to STEM topics take place once a month, the library said in an announcement.

“Density,” January's activity, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 4:30 p.m.

"How do you determine density with floating eggs and rainbows? Stop by on January 18 to find out," library staff said.

Parents and kids from elementary to college age crowded around Geri Roberts, branch manager at the Elmo Willard Library.

“Is everybody here ready to build a terrarium?” Roberts asked.

“Yes!” the children answered.


Robin Smith, children’s librarian with the Beaumont Public Library system will be spending Thursdays at the Elmo Willard Library. Beginning at 4:30 pm, she will be providing an after school fun time with STEAM activities. STEAM = Science – Technology – Engineering – Art – Mathematics.


The Theodore Johns Library is hosting Family Place workshops from Nov. 15 through Dec. 13. Parents or caregivers and children are welcome to attend.
