Christmas tree drop-off will be available at Magnolia, Rogers, and Sprott Parks through Jan. 12, the City of Beaumont announced Dec. 28.

In Rogers Park, the drop-off area is in the parking lot facing Dowlen Road, indicated by posted signs.

The City of Beaumont will host Oktoberfest at Rogers Park on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3-8 p.m., a free event for all agents. There will be a beer garden, food and plenty of entertainment from performances by Paul Childers, Mayeaux & Broussard and a polka performance from the Royal Klobasneks. From Nashville, Childers is a new breed of singer/songwriters and guitarists. He is trying to challenge everything you thought you knew about the future of music.

Beaumont's First Baptist Church is having their ninth annual community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 15 in Rogers Park.

The hunt for 25,000 eggs begins at 11 a.m. sharp, according to the event announcement. Bring your own basket for egg gathering.

Numerous local businesses and nonprofits, along with members of the community participated in the ADA Symposium & Resource Fair at Rogers Park on July 23 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and learn about local services offered to persons with disabilities.

Members of the Beaumont City Council recently met to discuss the possibility of a city-sponsored Oktoberfest event, and at a City Council meeting July 28, took a step in that direction, also talking about the potential for other themed events in the future.

Bubble Day

The Texas Energy Museum and the Miller Branch Library will present a Bubble Day program at the Rogers Park Community Center on Friday, July 10, from 10:30 a.m. – noon. Bubble Day is a hands-on science program where participants will be able to create and experiment with bubbles in a number of different activities such as creating bubble walls, making bubbles inside of bubbles, and being surrounded by a bubble. Family members of a Houston-area girl who lost her life to pediatric cancer stopped in Beaumont Tuesday night as they continued their journey to walk from Disneyland in Anaheim, California, to Disney World in Orlando, Florida as part of their effort to raise money for a foundation in her name.
