Rothwell Recital Hall

It’s a weekend full of fine arts events from Lamar University beginning with the Concert Band & Wind Ensemble Concert on Friday, April 21, at Silsbee High School (1575 Highway 96 N.) at 7:30 p.m.

The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music will present the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Scott Deppe, director of bands, and Concert Band, under the direction of Eric Shannon, director of athletic bands, in a combined concert. This is the final band concert for Deppe, who will retire this summer.

The Lamar University Department of Theatre & Dance presents Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti, translated and adapted by Beverly Cross, winner of the 2008 Tony Award for best revival of a play, on Thursday, Nov. 3 – Sunday, Nov. 6. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. for Nov. 3-5 and 2 p.m. for Nov. 6 at University Theatre (4400 S. MLK Jr. Parkway).

Lamar University’s Cardinal Jazz Singers will perform Thursday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rothwell Recital Hall on the campus of Lamar University. The free concert will feature a variety of contemporary jazz selections from aartists such as Bobby McFerrin and Kerry Marsh, and new music composed by faculty member Rebecca Windham, all performed a cappella or with a live rhythm section.

Live from the Rothwell, a chamber concert featuring Lamar University’s Clarinet Quartet and Clarinet Choir, is set for Wednesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Rothwell Recital Hall on the campus of Lamar University.
