Police in Orange report a fatal accident May 18 claimed the life of an Orange County resident.

March 24, at about 5 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report that a train struck a semi on Old Nome Road in Jefferson County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.

“Initial reports indicate that a 2016 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 90 and turned onto Old Nome Road,” Davis said. “As the 18-wheeler crossed the railroad tracks, the fully loaded trailer became stuck on the tracks.”

An overturned 18-wheeler shut down the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Orange County Aug. 21 while crews cleaned up the driver's lost load and dangerous diesel fuel that had leaked out of the damaged semi, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reports.

An accident along the feeder road near the interstate apparently had traffic backed up on westbound Interstate 10 at about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 15, possibly as a result of "rubbernecking."

The Texas Department of Pubic Safety reports that a major accident on Interstate 10 in Orange County has resulted in unknown injuries to the parties involved and lane closure on the westbound side of the interstate. At approximately 6:40 a.m., there was a two vehicle crash on Interstate 10 at Highway 12 in Orange County.  One of the vehicles involved was an truck tractor semi-trailer.
