Darrel Jerome Durousseau

Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced May 25 that Darrel Jerome Durousseau, 30, was sentenced by a Jefferson County jury to 18 years in Texas prison following his conviction in Drug Impact Court.  Prosecutors Robert Scott and Luke Nichols presented the case.

More than three years after a violent drunken-driving collision left several wounded and thousands of dollars in damages, Jefferson County attorney Dane Dennison was ordered this past week to begin serving a sentence handed down prior to the defendant exhausting his appeals process.

A judge sentenced two former city of Port Arthur employees, John Tomplait and Carleton Edwards, on March 20 for their roles in separate thefts from the city resulting in thousands of dollars in losses.

Former Port Arthur assistant water utilities director John Tomplait was sentenced to probation for stealing more than 1,600 pounds of metal from the city.

According to a press release from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office, 35 year-old Travis J. Guillory, who last resided at 3095 Roberts St. in Beaumont, was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in the state penitentiary in connection with a 2011 narcotics investigation.
