Gerald Wade Tomlinson

The suspect in two shootings, 71-year-old Gerald Wade Tomlinson from Saratoga, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault after Hardin County Sherriff’s Office investigated the shootings that happened on Friday Nov. 2 in and near the 13000 block of Tomlinson Road. According to press releases form Hardin County Sherriff’s Office, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 deputies responded to the 13000 block of Tomlinson Road and discovered the deceased body of a 37-year-old white male, later identified as Charlie Wayne Daniel Jr, who apparently died from a gunshot wound.

Damon Winters, a 40-year-old Beaumont man, allegedly shot his stepson the early morning of Friday, Oct. 26. According to Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow, at 1:29 a.m. Beaumont Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Woodrow in reference to a victim of a shooting. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Winters and his 20-year-old stepson had a verbal altercation that turned physical, resulting in Winters shooting his stepson. Winters spoke with Detectives before being placed under arrest for aggravated assault- family violence.

The victim of a shooting at a laundromat in Port Arthur has been identified as 56-year-old male Michael Lynn Thomas.

According to Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD), Thomas was a homeless resident of Port Arthur. At approximately 1:47 am on Oct. 24 dispatch received a call regarding a shooting victim at Fabric Care Washateria on 25th  Street. Upon arrival, officers located Thomas with a gunshot wound to the torso area.

He was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

In the very early morning hours of Oct. 24th, Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) officers responded to a shooting at a laundromat located at 2925 25th St. Upon arrival, officers located a 56-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the torso area.

The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital from the scene for emergency medical treatment; however, the victim’s injuries proved to be fatal. PAPD’s Crime Scene Unit was summoned to process and photograph the scene for evidence.

Police in Port Arthur are investigating the fatal shooting of a 56-year-old man found on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the 2900 block of 25th Street with a gunshot wound to his torso area.

According to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD), the victim was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital from the scene for emergency medical treatment; however, he did not survive his injuries.

Port Arthur police officers found a 31-year-old, black, male Port Arthur gunshot victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities after responding to a call of a shooting in the 3100 block of Seventh Street on Oct. 22.

Port Arthur Police found a 39-year-old male with a single gunshot wound in his abdomen on the night of Sunday, Oct. 21 after responding to a call about a shooting at 2000 block of 15th St. According toa press relase from Port Arthur Police, the 39-year-old victim was transported to southeast Texas Medical Center by ambulance, he was then life-flighted to St. Elizabeth Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Herbert Wayne Collins, a 38-year-old Beaumont man, was arrested as a suspect in the murder of 29-year-old Bradison Allen Mims near the corner of North and Ewing on Tuesday, Oct. 16. 

According to BPD, on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 2:41 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Ewing in reference a victim of a shooting.  Upon arrival officers discovered Mims who had been shot several times. Collins was picked up the same day in the 2400 block of Delaware around 4:30 p.m.

Beaumont Police Family Violence Unit responded to a shooting at 5:07 p.m. on Oct. 13, in the 6800 block of Broadleaf. The caller said a 19-year-old Beaumont man shot his 20-year-old brother and then shot himself. Both males were transported to the hospital.

Witnesses told officers the victim and his brother were sitting in a car with another person, and the brothers were arguing with one another. The 19-year-old man shot his brother and then shot himself.

On Thursday, July 12 at 8:57 p.m., officers responded to the 4300 block of Flamingo in reference to a victim of a shooting. According to a press release from Beaumont Police, upon arriveing at the scene officers located an unresponsive male in a vehicle. The vehicle was on the front lawn of a residence. EMS responded but the victim, a Beaumont man, was deceased. Investigators learned the disturbance started at the victim’s residence. Witnesses said the victim was intoxicated, arguing with other people at the house and neighbors.
