The Lamar University men’s golf team couldn’t have asked for a better start to the spring season, as the Cardinals claimed the team title and individual medalist honors at the James S. Litz Memorial on Feb. 9.

The Lamar Cardinals (2-1, 1-0) will face No. 22 Southeastern Louisiana (2-1, 1-0) on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. The game will be shown live on the American Sports Network. Lamar University sophomore Alexus Aviles was named the Southland Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts against UTEP and New Mexico State over the Labor Day weekend.

Vidor High School graduate Madison Chilton has been selected to participate in the elite Top Scholar scholarship program administered by the University of Texas in San Antonio.

“I’m excited to be back,” said forward Morgan Burden (12).

It’s important for Lamar University’s student-athletes to remain hydrated at all times. It will be even more important in the coming days as LU’s fall sports teams conduct practices on days when the temperature is expected to surpass 100 degrees.

Lamar University invites students of all ages to a variety of summer camps to be held on campus this summer. Camps are offered for a variety of ages and interests with both daily and residential opportunities.

Lamar University Soccer Camp– There will be one session May 11, for girls, grades 8 -12. There will be two sessions, July 8-12 & July 22-26, for boys and girls ages 4-16.

The Lady Bulldogs Soccer Team of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School swept through the  Indian Kickoff Tournament hosted by Port Neches-Groves


After losing 13-1 on Nov. 17 in their debut in the Professional Indoor Soccer League (PASL) at Rio Grande Valley, the Texas Strikes will play their first home game on Saturday, Dec. 1 when the team hosts the Dallas Sidekicks (2-0) at 7 p.m.

This is the inaugural season of the Strikers of Beaumont, who will play eight home games in the 16-game PASL schedule. Ticket prices are $25 (field side), $18, $15 or $9.
