Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Deputy Marcus McLellan reports deputies in the department are investigating an apparent self-inflicted shooting that occurred May 4.

According to McLellan, JCSO responded to a call of a self-inflicted gunshot at 3410 North Twin City Hwy. in Nederland. Upon arrival, deputies found a male subject on the floor of the residence with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound. The male subject was transported by Acadian EMS to St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont where he remains in critical condition.

Christus Southeast Texas Foundation unveiled a 7 ft. bronze of Jesus Christ Tuesday, October 11 in front of St. Elizabeth Hospital. The Foundation worked with artist and sculptor Marsha Elmore, originally from Southeast Texas, to acquire the statue.

DPS is investigating a crash involving a truck tractor hauling timber and a passenger car that resulted in serious injuries to one person and shut down Highway 87 in Orange County for nearly an hour, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper Stephanie Davis reported Saturday.

The Beaumont Police Department reports one person is dead and another injured after a fatal accident at the bridge in the 8200 block of Eastex Freeway in Beaumont. According to BPD Sgt. James Cody Guedry, both victims fell over a guardrail at the top of the overpass while attempting to change a flat tire

Detectives with the Orange Police Department are still investigating a stabbing that took place Oct. 20 at the Sabine Park Apartments at about 8:15 p.m., according to a news release from OPD.

Christus recognized nurses from St. Elizabeth and St. Mary hospitals for their dedication, hard work, and clinical skills as well as for the compassion they show their patients on an everyday basis Tuesday, Aug. 13.

“When a loved one is hospitalized, it’s often nurses who care for them minute by minute, day by day, that make the biggest impact on the patient and their families,” said Bonnie Barnes, co-founder and president of the DAISY Foundation.
