Head to downtown Orange for the biggest day of fall fun this year at Stark Cultural Venues’ Community “Fun Day” at the Stark Museum of Art on Saturday, Oct. 21. The Stark Museum of Art will offer a book discussion on the publication Branding the American West: Paintings and Films, 1900-1950 on Thursday, August 17, from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Curator Sarah E. Boehme, co-editor and co-author, will lead the discussion.

Car and antique enthusiasts will not want to miss Collecting and Care: Cars at the Stark Museum of Art (712 Green Ave.) in Orange on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 2-3 p.m. The event will include a panel style discussion about the preservation and restoration of historic automobiles using the Stark collection vehicles as examples.

One family, three generations, timeless treasures. The Stark Museum of Art presents a new exhibit titled Collecting Conversations opening Saturday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m.

Everyone collects something. People buy keepsakes to remind them of their travels. They keep treasures to pass down through their families. Some seek objects that can teach them about the world. Others collect items that are valuable, beautiful, rare or quirky. Such “stuff” tells stories, sometimes about the objects, sometimes about the collector and often about both.

Curious about how a work of art is made? Join in the fun at the next Adult Studio Workshop: Acrylic Still Life Painting at the Stark Museum of Art on Saturday, June 4, from 1-5 p.m. and learn to see art through the artist’s eyes. Special guest artist will be Stephanie Garza, who received her Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and teacher certification from Lamar University. Garza has been an art teacher for 15 years and has been teaching painting classes at Painting with a Twist for five years.

Stark Cultural Venues will be right in the thick of things beginning Saturday, March 5, with David Rogers’ Big Bugs grand opening at Shangri La Gardens from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Stark Museum of Art once again welcomes families to make art after dark at Third Thursdays Art Night on Feb. 18 from 5-7 p.m. Admission is free for all Orange County public, private or home school students, grades pre-K-12, wearing school colors or spirit wear. Admission for adults (18-64) is $6; seniors (65 or over) $5; and children 3 years and under are admitted free. Stark Cultural Venues Members will also receive free admission.
