Suspects, one wielding a machete, robbed a woman on I-10 in Beaumont the same night a local convenience store was robbed at gunpoint, reports Beaumont Police Department (BPD) Officer Haley Morrow.

According to Morrow, at 10:55 p.m., officers responded to the first of two aggravated robberies reported on Sept. 18. In that incident, the victim stated that a suspect brandishing a machete demanded her property. She said she had been accosted by two males in a white SUV.

Detectives in Orange are investigating a shooting that sent one man to a local hospital over the weekend, reports Orange Police Department (OPD) Lt. G.D. Keaton.

Officers from the OPD responded to the 1100 block of 11th Street at 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 16 in reference to a 9-1-1 call reporting “shots fired.” The caller advised dispatch that several shots had been heard in the area.

A 40-year-old Beaumont man has been indicted and charged with federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown on June 6.

Jonathan Matthew Torres was indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with use of an explosive to damage property, possession of an unregistered destructive device, and mailing a threatening communication.

James Westbrook of Atlanta, Georgia

UPDATE: May 24 around 3 p.m. deputies arrested and transported 35-year-old James Westbrook of Atlanta, Georgia, to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Westbrook is being charged with evading and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Westbrook was caught on a residential security camera in Chambers County approximately 30 minutes prior to fleeing from JCSO Deputies. Items found in the bed of the truck are being checked as a possibility that they were stolen.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying a burglary suspect caught on tape selling stolen items, or actually getting someone else to do his dirty work for him, reports the Beaumont Police Department (BPD).

Atayanna Douglas, 18, who claimed to have information on the Capital Murders of Kera and Kyndal Teel, was released from custody Nov. 28 for lack of evidence tying her to three counts of aggravated robbery for crimes that took place at or around the time of the shooting deaths of the mother and child.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) reports deputies were joined by police from Vidor and Beaumont as they traveled across city and county lines while pursuing a fleeing suspect who was allegedly throwing drugs, syringes and IDs from the window of the stolen vehicle during the chase.

Baytown Police are searching for a women who they believe keyed a disabled veteran's vehicle while it was parked in a handicapped parking space on June 9 at about 2:35 p.m.

The vehicle had proper placards displayed at the time of the incident, police say. She may be driving a silver Nissan Juke.

Approximately $1000 of damage to the veteran's vehicle was done.

Games wardens with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) chased a group on four-wheelers at Sea Rim Park on March 22 and later apprehended a suspect in the crime. The next day, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Aviation Unit deputies found a stolen four-wheeler that had been involved in the chase while looking for bundles or marijuana along the shore.
