In a crackdown on child predators, the Texas attorney general’s Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) conducted a joint operation with several law enforcement agencies last week, arresting five north Texas men for online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, the Texas Attorney General’s Office said in a release.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced that the Child Exploitation Unit (CEU) of his office arrested William Doyle Gant, 47, of Shepherd, on March 28 for five counts of possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony. Gant could face up to 10 years in prison per charge if convicted.

The Texas Attorney General’s Office recognized Matthew Block, an assistant attorney general in the Child Support Division’s Beaumont office, for his commitment to Texas children. Block was named Assistant Attorney General of the Year for the Child Support Division’s Tyler region, which covers 43 counties. First Assistant Attorney General Daniel Hodge presented the award to Block on Tuesday at the Statewide Assistant Attorneys General Conference in Austin.
