The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is urging Texans along the Gulf Coast region to prepare for severe weather, strong winds and localized flooding through the early part of the weekend.

Tropical Storm Cindy has the potential to produce wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph. These winds could cause scattered power outages, fallen trees and minor property damage. DPS is closely monitoring the weather conditions, including wind speeds.

On May 23, at about 11 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a one vehicle crash on I-10 in Jefferson County, about ten miles west of Beaumont, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.

On April 20 at about 7:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a motor vehicle crash near Saratoga on FM 770 in Hardin County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis reported.

UPDATE: The Texas Department of Public Safety can confirm that 22-year-old Mekayla Victoria Howard of Kountze, was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston following the two vehicle crash on FM 421 in Hardin County.

On March 23, at about 7:45 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 2799 and FM 1747 in Jasper County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis reported.

March 24, at about 5 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report that a train struck a semi on Old Nome Road in Jefferson County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.

“Initial reports indicate that a 2016 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 90 and turned onto Old Nome Road,” Davis said. “As the 18-wheeler crossed the railroad tracks, the fully loaded trailer became stuck on the tracks.”

On March 12 around 3:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on I-10, near mile marker 838, in Jefferson County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis reported at 4:18 p.m..

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on US 90 in China on March 8, reports Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

Update: At 5:45 p.m. The Texas Department of Public Safety announced that they have identified the deceased victim involved in the motor vehicle crash that occurred earlier on West Port Arthur Road as 49-year-old Martha Dianne Katan of Port Arthur.
