Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas will honor Pat and Tommy Frank.

At a City Council meeting Nov. 1, Mayor Becky Ames proclaimed Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, “Harvest of Hope Day” in Beaumont and recognized Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas and its honorees Pat and Tommy Frank for their philanthropic efforts in the local community.

Beaumont City Attorney Tyrone Cooper

The Beaumont City Council approved a raise for Beaumont City Attorney Tyrone Cooper at their regular meeting Oct. 25.

According to information from council, Cooper’s pay was increased to $15,833.33 per month in base wages. Cooper will also receive a car allowance of $833.33 and an administrative allowance of $100 per month, which remain unchanged. The city will also provide $24,000 toward Cooper’s retirement, which is the same as provided in 2015, according to the city.

The Beaumont City Council unanimously approved changes to plans for the ongoing Concord Road Project, but one local business owner expressed concern about the exclusion of sidewalks and a curb and gutter in the new design.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is managing the road-widening project, which has been fraught with difficulties since it started.
