United Way

The United Way of Beaumont and North Jefferson County has shifted the focus of its new fundraiser called United Way Hometown Huddle scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Event Centre in downtown Beaumont.

According John Rollins, the director of Public Relations and Community Impact for United Way of Beaumont & North Jefferson County, instead of funds raised going their 21 local nonprofit partner agencies, now 100 percent of proceeds will go toward storm recovery.

United Way of Beaumont & North Jefferson County distributed nearly $2 million between 19 local partner agencies at an allocation award ceremony on Tuesday, July 18 at the Foundation for Southeast Texas.

The money was raised during United Way’s annual campaign. The money comes from donors, individuals who live and work in the community, as well as corporate donors, said John Rollins, public relations/community impact director for the United Way of Beaumont & North Jefferson County.

Valero donation check for United Way

Valero Port Arthur refinery employees went above and beyond this holiday season to gather a hefty donation for the United Way of Mid and South Jefferson County. Through employee pledges, fundraisers and funds matched by the company, a check for $752,169 was presented to United Way on Tuesday, Dec. 1, during a banquet at the refinery’s administration building.

PORT ARTHUR, TX, November 30, 2015 - BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals LLC recently awarded $25,000 to the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County. The funds will support the organization’s work with community programs and services, focusing on education, health and self-sufficiency, according to BASF spokesperson Carol Hebert.

Through various fundraising events and a traditional campaign, the employees of ExxonMobil raised more than $940,000 for the United Way Beaumont and North Jefferson County, and a corporate contribution of $500,000 brought the total donation to $1.4 million in 2014.

BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals is once again sponsoring the Live United 5K race to benefit the United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County. The Live United 5K is Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, and begins at Port Neches Park at the corner of Merriman and Grigsby.

The United Way held a campaign kickoff luncheon Thursday, Sept. 13, to begin this year’s fundraising efforts.  Those who attended the kickoff were treated to a big, rich gumbo from Big Rich Courville’s Catering’s.
