A 36-year-old Mt. Vernon, Texas man, Charles Maull II, has been sentenced to prison for federal tax violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown today. 

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Maull, pleaded guilty on Feb. 21 to six counts of willfully aiding in the preparation and filing of a false income tax return and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.  Maull was also ordered to pay restitution of $674,730.68 to the Internal Revenue Service.

Jose Antonio Quiroga, Baytown Police Department

Baytown’s Jose Quiroga, 42, pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations that allege he conspired to bring drugs to Beaumont and neighboring states on Tuesday, June 12, according to information from the office of U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown.

Information presented in court and provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office showed that Quiroga served as a narcotics and bulk currency courier for a drug trafficking organization led by Eugenio Cerda.

Peter Zuccarelli, 62, of Plano, Texas was sentenced to 46 months in prison Jan. 24 for conspiring to smuggle and illegally export from the U.S. in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), radiation hardened integrated circuits (RHICs) for use in the space programs of China and Russia.
