On Friday, June 30, 2017, at 10:51 pm the Vidor Police Department Dispatch Center received a call of an automobile collision in the 600 Block of S. Main Street. The caller advised the vehicle had left the roadway, flipped and was submerged in the School House Ditch. The caller advised that there were individuals entrapped in the vehicle. The first Officer on scene found the vehicle submerged up-side down in approximately four feet of water. Arriving officers and firefighters entered the waterway to conduct a water rescue.

Police in Vidor arrested 21-year-old Trevor Duane Edwards May 4 after the manager of a fast food establishment where Edwards once worked said the former employee snuck behind the counter and into the manager’s office, stealing a wad of cash and fleeing in spite of being spotted in the act.

Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll announced that until further notice East Tram Road will be closed from just past Walmart to North Tram Road until further notice, the Vidor Police Department posted in a Facebook post.

Vidor Police responded to the 900 block of Sarver Thursday, Feb. 23 at 11:40 a.m. to a call that a 17-year-old male had dismembered his right hand at the forearm with a radial arm saw. The teen was taken by ambulance to a landing zone where a medical transport helicopter could take him to UTMB Galveston, according to Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll, but was then re-routed to St. Elizabeth Hospital due to the life-threatening conditions he sustained. Carroll said he didn't know if the teen's hand could be saved.

On Feb. 7, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety was notified of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County.

Vidor Police and Orange County Fire ESD #1 were notified of an 18 wheeler on fire on I-10 westbound at mile marker 862 on Feb. 1 at 6:45 a.m., Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said in a statement.

A man police believe was suffering from excited delirium, a condition often associated with drug use, reportedly fought officers attempting to take him into custody in Vidor, injuring one officer who was transported via ambulance to a Beaumont emergency room on Jan. 8.

Police in Vidor arrested two suspects on suspicion of public intoxication and other charges after a customer at a local Taco Bell told dispatch the parties had been inside the business "making a butt of themselves" and disturbing patrons Dec. 7, reports the Vidor Police Department (VPD).

Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst announced Nov. 18 that he has nominated Rod Carroll as the next chief of police for the city of Vidor, replacing Chief Dave Shows, whose last official day coincides with the announcement of the city’s nominee.

Vidor Police recovered a stolen motorcycle during a traffic stop on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2:24 a.m.

Vidor Police officers were on patrol in the 1000 block of Old Highway 90 when they stopped a motorcycle displaying an expired Texas license plate. The officers ran a check with the Vidor dispatcher and found the motorcycle was listed as stolen through the Orange County Sheriff’s office.
