Hall of Fame coach Gene Stallings will be the guest speaker at the 2016 Lamar University Football Banquet on Sunday, Aug. 28, inside the Montagne Center beginning at 6 p.m. The banquet will serve as the Golden Triangle’s first opportunity to meet the 2016 LU players and coaches.

It will be a weekend full of Lamar basketball beginning Thursday, Dec. 17, with the Lady Cards (2-6) hosting Texas A&M-Kingsville at 7 p.m. The men (5-4) will host Jarvis Christian on Friday, Dec. 18, at noon then Texas Lutheran on Monday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m.

Junior Chelsea Grant of Killeen was named the Southland Conference’s Player of the Week on Aug. 31. Grant helped the Lady Cards win the Lamar Invitational volleyball tournament last weekend, defeating Texas Southern (3-1), UAB (3-0) and Marist (3-0).
