The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued an excessive heat warning for Southeast Texas, including Jefferson and Orange Counties. Temperatures could reach the triple digits this afternoon, Aug. 10, NWS reports, and the heat index could rise to 115 degrees.

Flooding is creating traffic issues this morning, July 18.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and has extended it until 12:15 p.m.

Sarah Dupre of TxDOT reports that in Port Neches, the road is closed at the intersection of SH366 and SH347 due to standing water at 8:47 a.m.

Storms will be ongoing from Kansas to Texas early Thursday, before expanding in coverage and intensity into the afternoon, from the Upper Midwest to the southern Plains.

After the 2:30 p.m. National Weather Service call Tuesday, Jan. 28, Jefferson County made the decision to reopen all its offices at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29. If conditions do not improve enough Wednesday morning for roads to properly clear, then that 1 p.m. opening could change, the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said in a press release.

A surge of warm, humid air associated with a developing storm over the South Central states this weekend will spark thunderstorm development.

The area of concern for severe weather Saturday will reach from part of northeastern Texas to a large part of Louisiana and Mississippi, southeastern Arkansas, southeastern portions of Missouri and western portions of Tennessee and Kentucky.

Beaumont might be in for a nice, sunny weekend, but last night’s storm was anything but pleasant. 


Beaumont was inundated with heavy rain and winds last night, May 9, but the worst might not yet be over.

Southeast Texas is in for some wet and thunderous weather, at least until Thursday, Jan 10.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Beaumont received at least an inch of rain since it started Tuesday morning, Jan. 8.
