In less than a year’s time, the Dat Mac food truck has made its mark on Southeast Texas cuisine. Wood Fired Grill inside Jerry Nelson’s Hill Country has been open for nearly a year now, and if you haven’t had the opportunity yet, you really need to give it a try.

The venue’s décor sets Wood Fired Grill apart from any other restaurant in Beaumont and is alone worth the visit. It has a warm, inviting feel that is reminiscent of a visit to the Texas Hill Country.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed Proclamation 5219, setting aside an entire month for celebration of his favorite treat and designating an official day in honor of what he described as “the perfect dessert.”

July has been National Ice Cream Month ever since, and on the third Sunday of July, folks all over the country celebrate National Ice Cream Day. It’s July 19 this year.
