The “I Have A Dream” Program recently recognized Class of 2016 new “dreamer” scholarship recipients during a reception and dinner at the Beaumont ISD boardroom.

Just about anything you can think of to eat is available from more than 75 food vendors at the 73rd annual South Texas State Fair on the grounds of Ford Park, which begins Thursday, March 24, with the 11-day festival of fun ending Sunday, April 3.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. next Thursday and there is literally something for everyone. Some come for the food. Some come for the games, carnival rides, exhibits, live music and the rodeo.

Southeast Texas fairgoers had the opportunity to witness the first-ever South Texas State Fair Kart Challenge on Saturday, April 5, as the YMBL partnered with Golden Triangle Race­way Park to feature up-and-coming stars in the world of kart racing at the Ford Arena.

This year’s South Texas State Fair, scheduled for Thurs­day, March 27 – Sunday, April 6, at Ford Park will give South­east Texans an opportunity to get out of the house after an unusually long, cold winter and enjoy some of the best food, games, rides and entertainment offered in the state.

After a short ceremony hosted by the Young Men’s Business League (YMBL) and a pitch-perfect national anthem and flag salute, the South Texas Fair and Rodeo was officially opened Thursday, March 22.
