Justin Furstenfeld is not only one of the best singers in the rock world today, but he is also one of the nicest human beings you’ll ever meet.

But it hasn’t always been fun and games for the 41-year-old Houston native whose band Blue October has been around since 1995 and continues to sell out shows nationwide.

Hank and Cupcakes are coming to Beaumont to perform at the Logon Café on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 9 p.m. with no cover charge for all ages. The New York Post calls Hank (Ariel Scherbacovsky) and Cupcakes (Sagit Shir) a “funky fresh sound,” so if you have never seen them live, here’s your chance. The duo flew to Berlin in 2012 to record their debut record at the famous Hansa Studios where U2, David Bowie, R.E.M, Iggy Pop and many more legends have recorded legendary music, with Swedish producer Ludwig Boss. Record-setting rapper Flo Rida will hip hop his way to the H20 Pool Concert Series at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles on Friday, Aug. 11, with gates opening at 7:30 p.m. Born Tramar Dillard, the 37-year-old Flo Rida debut song “Low” spent No. 1 on the Billboard chart for 10 consecutive weeks and set a record for most downloads at 6 million.

Southeast Texas singer-songwriter Robert Frith will play from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Rodair Roadhouse located at 6701 Jade Ave in Port Arthur. Frith has played at several big musical festivals in the area including the Gulf Coast Jam as well as Janis Joplin Memorial Concert. The diversity of Frith’s original music earned him airplay on radio stations with music formats of pop, rock, classic rock and country. In 2007, he was chosen out of 30,000 contestants as a Regional Finalist for the reality music show Nashville Star on USA Network.

The H2O Pool Concert Series at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles continues on Friday, Aug. 4, with R&B sensation Jason Derulo at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-older show are $75-$115 and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com.

The Isley Brothers featuring Ernie and Ronald “Mr. Biggs” Isley have been cited as having enjoyed one of the “longest, most influential, and most diverse careers in the pantheon of popular music,” and the two will perform inside the Grand Event Center at Golden Nugget in Lake Charles on Saturday, July 22, at 8 p.m. They began performing in 1954, and 16 of their albums charted in the Top 40 with 13 of those having been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum.

Texas country music stars Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen will share the stage at Jerry Nelson’s Backyard Dance Hall for a special show Sunday, July 23, with doors opening at 7 p.m. in a tour titled “Hold My Beer & Watch This.” Both are lead singers of their respective bands, but as long time friends, they’ve decided to record a live album together.
