In the most apparent case of following in your father’s footsteps, Jason Bonham is taking Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience on the road again. The son of drumming icon John Bonham, known for his work in Led Zeppelin, created the experience as a tribute to the legacy his father left behind.
The EDM is in full swing but one group has etched out their own mark in the genre — French quartet Dirtyphonics. Their “Irreverence Tour”comes to Houston on April 19 at Stereo Live in support of their first full debut record Irreverence on fellow musician’s Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records.
Lamar University’s acclaimed Lamarissimo! Concert Series continues Thursday, March 7, as the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band perform classic symphonic selections by Edvard Greig and Leonard Bernstein, and premieres an original composition in honor of Wayne Dyess, longtime director of jazz studies at Lamar, who died Feb. 27.
The Dixie Dance Hall on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont has quite a history. The building once housed the notorious Dixie Hotel where Madam Rita Ainsworth ran her brothel, and now, the historic country saloon is about to get a rock music makeover — at least for a night.
How could you go wrong with Linkin Park? What about Incubus? The Cynthia Mitchell Woodlands Pavilion, north of Houston, hosted the 2012 Honda Civic Tour on Aug. 28, 2012, with headliners Linkin Park, who played nearly two-dozen songs. Brilliant move.
