The Hardin County MusicFest is bringing in some heavy hitters this weekend as Joe Diffie will headline on Friday, May 2 and John Anderson will do the same on Saturday, May 3. Tickets for each day are $20 per person and children 6 and under are free. This year’s event is located at the Big Thicket Trade Days on Highway 69 in Kountze.

The Vidor Chamber of Commerce presents the Texas Star Music Festival and Texas Bar-B-Q Fest on April 24-27 at Conn Park located near I-10 and Old Hwy 90 in Vidor. Over 40 cook teams will be competing and festivalgoers can enjoy plenty of good food, vendors, carnival rides and live entertainment. Admission is $2 per person with a parking fee of $5.

The 11th annual Gulf Coast Gala will be rocking to the sounds of legendary rock-n-roll musician Johnny Rivers on Saturday, April 26, at 6 p.m. inside the Carl Parker Center on the campus of Lamar State College-Port Arthur. Individual tickets to this formal event are $125.

Rivers has had nine Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and 17 in the Top 40 from 1964-1977. In total, he has sold over 30 million records and collected 17 gold records, 29 chart hits and two Grammy Awards.

Kip Winger and the boys of Winger are back with a brand new 10-track album titled Better Days Comin’, due out tomorrow on Frontier Records.

Of course, everyone knows Winger — the New York City rockers who gave us songs like “Seventeen,” “Headed for a Heartbreak,” “Can’t Get Enuff,” which are tunes that are etched in the pages of rock history.
